MARIKINA CITY, METRO MANILA — Subject-matter experts from MetroPac Movers, Inc. and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) have conducted the Philippines’ first capability-building training for Regional Lead Warehouse Assessors.

A total of 28 warehouse personnel from different companies, including 16 employees of MetroPac Movers, Inc., attended the 3-day program held on the grounds of MetroPac Movers’ logistics school, OneLogistics, Inc. Technical and Vocational Institute (“OLITECH”). The participants are from Regions 1, 2, 3, 4A and Metro Manila. They will form the pioneer batch of Regional Lead Warehouse Assessors, who will be tasked to evaluate the quality of services of warehouses and warehouse personnel across the country.

“The participants will be the country’s first batch of Regional Lead Assessors for Warehouse Services duly certified by the TESDA with an NC-2 (National Certification Level 2) certification for services like picking procedures, checking, dispatching and packaging goods, and operating materials-handling equipment, among other warehouse services,” said Mr. Michael Panlaqui, OLITECH President.

An NC Certification is the highest accreditation given by the TESDA to skilled workers.

“An NC-2 certification is now a national and international standard. In fact, TESDA is conducting NC-2 certifications abroad. This is one of POEA (Philippine Overseas Employment Administration) requirements to work in other countries,” Mr. Jomar Gabito, OLITECH Director and Training Head, said.

With the training program, the TESDA seeks to produce more warehouse assessors and form a pool of such experts for nationwide deployment with the goal of professionalizing warehouse services and personnel.

“We would like to have this capability-building activity regularly, so that more warehouse assessors will be discovered, developed and deployed. At present, Regions 1, 2, 3, 4A and the National Capital Region are taking part in this activity. In the future, I hope the other regions would also join this program,” said Dr. Marvin Adolfo, one of Philippines’ first TESDA-certified National Lead Warehouse Assessors.

MetroPac Movers, Inc. is the first Philippine logistics provider to hold the training and open its very own training facility. It is a subsidiary of infrastructure conglomerate, Metro Pacific Investments Corporation.
